The Importance of Detecting Inflammatory Arthritis Early

Stephen A. Paget, MD, FACP, FACR

Physician-in-Chief Emeritus, Hospital for Special Surgery
The Joseph P. Routh Professor of Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical College

This interview with Dr. Paget, conducted by Karen Golan, Program Coordinator for the HSS Early Arthritis Center, focuses on the myriad reasons for increasing efforts to detect inflammatory arthritis in its earliest stages. While it is important to detect all types of arthritis early, Dr. Paget reviews recent literature on the great benefits of early diagnosis of the inflammatory types of arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis, and he reviews how to identify this common type of arthritis.
